State Rep. Blaine Wilhour is encouraging people to take advantage of the annual Illinois Free Fishing Days celebration that is slated for June 19 – 22, coinciding with Father’s Day Weekend. Free Fishing Days is a four-day celebration of fishing in Illinois when anglers can fish without purchasing a fishing license, salmon stamp or inland trout stamp.

“Families should continue getting back to normal activities and get outdoors for some fresh air and spend quality time this Father’s Day Weekend by going fishing in the many lakes in the area,” said Rep. Wilhour. “Not only do we have Illinois’ largest lake in Carlyle and Clinton County, but we have some great fishing and camping locations that people enjoy.”

Some of the local fishing holes in the 107th District under the direction of IDNR include:

Carlyle Lake

Centralia Lake

Forbes Lake

Governor Bond Lake

Kinmundy Reservoir

Raccoon Lake

Ramsey Lake

Sara, Lake

Vandalia Lake

“There are also many fishing locations that are managed by local entities like the Salem Reservoir in Marion County that are nice places to spend time fishing with dad on this Father’s Day weekend,” added Rep. Wilhour.

Rep. Wilhour reminds people to check the hours of your favorite spot before you head out. Visit the IDNR online site at: https://www.ifishillinois.org/profiles/selector.php. The 107th district is made up of all or portions of five counties including Bond, Clinton, Effingham, Fayette and Marion.
