Wilhour’s Fishing Derby for Kids Set for Saturday June 13th at Carlyle Lake

Louisville, IL – State Representative Blaine Wilhour (R-Beecher City) will host his 4th Annual Kids Fishing Derby on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Willow Pond, located next to the visitor center at Carlyle Lake at 801 Laker Road in Carlyle.

The event is open to children ages 4 to 15 and is being held in partnership with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

The fishing derby begins at 9:00 a.m. with presentations on water safety and instruction on how to bait a hook, cast a line, and reel in a fish. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

“This event is a great opportunity for kids to learn how to fish for the first time or simply enjoy the outdoors at one of Illinois’ premier fishing destinations,” said Wilhour. “We’ll once again be awarding prizes for the biggest fish caught and the most fish caught during the derby.”
