The Greater Fayette County Chamber ‘Lunch & Learn’ monthly meeting was held on June 7 with guest speaker State Representative Blaine Wilhour (110th District). Rep. Wilhour spoke on his legislation House Bill 4085 to address the reliability of electricity to Illinois families and businesses.
Wilhour’s legislation would amend the Environmental Protection Act . Provides that the owner or operator of any large greenhouse gas (GHG)-emitting unit in the State may petition the Illinois Commerce Commission for a waiver of any one or more specified emission limitations.
If the Commission determines, following a hearing, that compliance with any one or more of the emission limitations will either threaten the reliability or adequacy of electricity supplies in the State or will create a significant economic hardship for electricity users in the State, the Commission may enter a written order waiving the operation of those limitations for a period to be specified by the Commission.
Rep. Wilhour also discussed common sense methods to addressing Illinois taxes, attracting businesses back to Illinois and other topics.
