State Rep. Blaine Wilhour is encouraging residents in the Marion County area to take advantage of the electronic recycling event sponsored by the Salem Community High School ‘Green Team.’ Once again, they are holding their annual electronic recycling drive on Friday, April 21st. The drive will be held in the rear parking lot of the school near the agriculture shop from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

This is the tenth year for the recycling drive that collects tons of no longer wanted electronic items each year.  Last year, 21 pallets of recyclables were collected. The event is held on the Friday closest to Earth Day each year.

A reminder that once again they will not be able to accept old style computer monitors and TVs that have cathode-ray tubes (CRTs).  They will also not be able to accept thermostats and smoke detectors that contain materials that cannot be recycled. The student club receives roughly 50 cents per pound of recycled material to support their activities throughout the year.
