Rep. Wilhour Promotes “Reaching Rural Veterans” Program March 17th in Effingham County

State Representative Blaine Wilhour (R-Beecher City) will be participating in the “Reaching Rural Veterans Event” on Wednesday, March 17 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. The program is open to veterans in Effingham and surrounding counties, and is sponsored by Enduring Freedom Ministries located at 304 S. West Street in Shumway (the former Shumway Grade School location).

Rep. Wilhour and his staff will be on hand to provide state materials such as Veterans Resource materials, information for widows, and useful hotline numbers for state offices and resources for a variety of topics.

Representatives from University of Illinois Extension office, the U.S. Veterans Administration (VA), H&R Block tax services, Heartland Human Services, Grace and Truth Counseling and chaplains/pastors will be at the event.

There will also be free groceries for all veterans to take home and a home-cooked meal will be prepared. The event, sponsored by Purdue University, is FREE. For questions about this event, call Vickie Roepke at 217-240-0059.
