State Rep. Blaine Wilhour (R-Beecher City) released the following statement following the “remote” press conference this morning with Leader Jim Durkin and General Assembly colleagues:
“The unemployment benefits system in Illinois is a catastrophe for families who are trying to pay rent, put food on the table, and purchase medicines. The governor needs to stop complaining about the federal government every day at his press conference and solve the problems he can control like the State of Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES). He could reassign government workers from another state department to the IDES or he could partner with a private sector business to help answer calls and emails and process the paperwork to approve these requests for help and get the money to the people who desperately need the money. No more excuses, make it a priority and get it done.”
