The top issue we are receiving calls and emails about in the district office at this time are concerning how to apply for unemployment benefits during the COVID-19 emergency. With a higher volume of applicants at this time, the IDES has suggested some helpful hints:
Apply During Slower Times
(before 10 AM and after 4PM)
Use a Laptop or Desktop Computer
(Cell Phones and Tablets have connection problems)
If you do not have an internet connection, you can still send your application in via the US Postal Service mail. The two offices closest to the residents of the 107th District are:
Effingham Office
2311 Hoffman Drive
Effingham, IL 62401-2839
Mount Vernon Office
333 Potomac Blvd, Suite E
Mount Vernon, IL 62864-2200
If you do send in via standard US mail, it may take longer to receive benefits due to some IDES offices being closed because of coronavirus. However, whenever offices are re-opened they will be processed as normal.
