Ramsey Junior High Students Visit State Capitol: Rep. Wilhour Talks About the General Assembly

Rep. Blaine Wilhour (R-Beecher City) welcomed a large group of 8th Grade students from Ramsey Junior High to the Illinois State Capitol last week. In addition to a tour of the Illinois State Capitol, Rep. Wilhour hosted the students and teachers in the House of Representatives where he was able to talk about the Illinois General Assembly.

Ramsey Community Unit School District #204 history teacher Bill Eddy, along with teachers Jenny Cearlock, and Kelly Lovelace lead the delegation of students on their trip to Springfield where they also visited the Abraham Lincoln Museum.

“When young people get a chance to see first-hand where their government makes laws and debates important issues of the day, it can be a very memorable experience,” commented Rep. Wilhour. “I think about how many of these students might be inspired to consider serving their communities one day on a school board, city council or even become a state representative.”

Students who would like to be considered for the “Page-for-a-Day” program should contact Rep. Blaine Wilhour’s office at 217-994-9348 or online at repwilhour.com.
