Legislators Help Women Return to Education: April 30 Deadline to Apply for $2,500 Scholarships

State Representative Blaine Wilhour (R-Beecher City), announced that the Conference of Women Legislators (COWL), a bipartisan, bicameral, nonprofit organization of women legislators in the Illinois General Assembly, has announced the 2019-2020 Scholarship Award Program.  The scholarship program endeavors to assist Illinois women, 25 years or older, who are seeking to earn undergraduate college degrees. Each scholarship is $2,500.

“These college scholarships are aimed at helping women, 25 years of age or older, who may have had their education interrupted to raise a family or who never had a chance to start college until later in life,” said Rep. Blaine Wilhour. “Many times these non-traditional students don’t meet many of the kinds of financial aid or scholarships for women coming right out of high school.”

Scholarship applicants are required to enroll in an Illinois accredited college or university for a minimum of six credit hours to qualify, making the scholarships available to part-time and online students. Applications must be postmarked or emailed by April 30, 2019. Awardees will be notified by May 31, 2019. All scholarship materials may be downloaded at www.cowlil.com.
